The Pune Municipal Corporation’s school board has stressed the need for a new policy to buy uniforms, shoes and school bags for students of the PMC-run schools.
Two standing committee members Ujwal Keskar and Babu Wagaskar on Wednesday alleged that the board had ‘tested’ samples of the dress material from a laboratory in Mumbai that did not exist. They had also demanded a probe into the issue. The civic body provides free uniforms and school material to students every year

In the world of dog breeding, the predominant mindset is to improve the breed, or breed as close to the standard as possible. Most breeders that follow this plan will also be very careful about who they sell puppies to and what happens to those puppies in the long run.
However, in the world outside the show ring or working dogs, there is a tendency to breed dogs for “educational” purposes. To teach the children about life. It does not matter who the parents of the litter are (usually), they simply want their female dog to have a litter of puppies so the kids can watch the delivery and see “mother nature” at work.
Let me make this suggestion to you.

The Proper Plan
Before taking actions in any problem we encounter, there should always be a plan first..
Beginning a task without planning is like building a house without a blueprint or fighting against a basketball team without a team play with your teammates. How can you expect a good outcome?
Losing weight is not at all different from any other situation. It also involves taking action based on proper plans built on good information.

FEMALE drivers are more likely to have scrapes and bumps while men are more prone to head-on collisions, it was revealed yesterday.
Women are also more likely to put in claims for collisions on roundabouts and hitting cars from behind, found a study of more than two million accidents by insurer Diamond.
Men are more likely to hit crash barriers and trees.
Diamond managing director Sian Lewis said: “Our research suggests that men drive faster, while women are more easily distracted.”
Patio pizazz Colorful, practical styling sets tone for outdoor

The makers of outdoor furniture are very much in tune with the uncertain economic times.
Their collections for spring and summer focus on “dazzling color to brighten our moods, plush comfort to ease our tension and increased value to minimize the impact on our wallets,” said Jackie Hirschhaut, spokeswoman for the American Home Furnishings Alliance (AHFA) in High Point, N.C.
Cheerful reds and yellows are key colors for 2010, along with calming shades of leaf green and watery blue.
“And the season’s most vivid fabrics provide a dramatic contrast to new bright-white frames that are adding a contemporary twist to traditional styling,” said Hirschhaut.
Comfort features include deep cushioning with outdoor foams that resist damp and mildew, along with rocking and reclining options. New synthetics that look like natural materials add durability to many products.
Lightweight, non-rusting aluminum frames are teamed with materials that look like wood or wicker, but are much tougher.
And several new sofa, bench and swing designs offer “individualized” seats, where each seat can be independently operated to rock, recline or remain upright and stationary.
There is also a trend away from large, traditional pieces, said Greg Donelson, sales and operations manager for Robb & Stucky’s patio division.
As more homeowners move into smaller houses
and condos, designers of outdoor furniture are responding to the downsizing movement.
“Sectionals are not so overbearing. Styling is more contemporary, with a smaller scale and cleaner lines,” said Donelson.
For homeowners wanting to splurge on a single item, he predicts daybeds with canopies will be popular for their “wow factor.” Some include a variety of reclining options and even a built-in massage function – along with solar panels to recharge the battery that operates the mechanisms.
Those on tighter budgets may postpone purchasing entire sets of patio furniture, opting instead for a few new accessories – outdoor floor and table lamps, planters, silk plants, wall art, shatterproof tableware and pillows.
The quick, affordable way to make an old set of outdoor furniture look fresh, he said, “is with a splash of colorful new pillows.”

WITH a storm brewing between the women in his life, Simon Cowell has been navigating stormy waters lately.
But after whisking off his warring ex-girlfriends on a sailing holiday, the X Factor judge issued Sinitta and Jackie St Claire, with an ultimatum: “It’s sink or swim.”
Happily the two women, who recently fell out in an astonishing online spat, appear to have kissed and made up on the pounds 280,000- a-week cruise.
Music mogul Simon, 50, and fiance Mezhgan Hussainy treated his two exes and a number of friends, including hypnotist Paul McKenna, to a lavish two-week trip off Corsica on chartered yacht, the Slipstream.
A source said: “Simon dearly loves both Jackie and Sinitta but was fed-up with their petty, schoolgirl arguments.
“He reckoned enough was enough and decided to put them together in a confined space. It was a case of sink or swim and they had no choice but to talk. Luckily it’s all gone to plan. They had a long chat and are friends again. They’ve been laughing, giggling… and plotting against Simon. He almost wishes he hadn’t bothered
